The popularity of Evony Free Forever is not unfounded. Evony is a brilliant game. It is a Real Time Strategy game that sucks players in. Expanding from 1 servers to the now 33 servers the developers of Evony have had to continuously upgrade their servers to be able to cope with all of the role playing enthusiasts who are enjoying the masterful game of Evony.
With an average of 100,000 players online for each server the current 33 servers equates to over 3 million Evony Players worldwide!
RuneScape won a Guiness World Records entry by having the most players on a browser game, but Evony is set to smash the records as MMO gamers keep flocking to the game.

Free Forever?
Evony has always called itself "Free Forever". But is it really? What is the real cost of playing Evony Online? Is it more expensive than other MMORPGs like World of Warcraft or Travian?
One of the reasons why I ask if Evony is Free Forever is that they keep advertising! I keep seeing Evony "Save the Queen" or "Save your lover" or some other new advertising campaign by UMGE to promote Evony and drive more players to the game. If they are spending all this money on advertising, surely they'd have to be taking MORE than this money from the players of the online game. Not to mention wages and server upgrades.
Most of the players I know have not spent any money in Evony buying Evony Cents. But there is a minority out there who have spent $100 or more on this game to enhance their gaming experience. Evony Cents could be used to speed up production or research, or to buy spins on the magic wheel. This is gambling! You buy spins at a set amount, then spin the wheel to see what you can get. Most times it won't be worth the Evony cents you paid, other times it will be worth a lot more than what you paid, but it is a gamble, a risk! And if there is 5 people that I know who have paid over $100 on evony cents, then there must be hundreds or thousands of players I don't know who have spent money on it. And what scares me the most is that people might be spending more than $100. Are there people out there spending hundreds or thousands of US$ to buy thousands of Evony Cents?

UMGE must be making a lot of money from Evony. The Evony ad campagins are still raging on drawing more people into playing Evony. To cope with the demand UMGE has added more and more servers on. Now with a total of 32 servers with a possible player numbers of over 3 million.
The developers at UMGE have done an increadible job of creating an addictive game that online gamers want to play. With the Real Time Strategy component of waiting while a building is being built or while an attack is taking place. This has meant that players will be watching the time tick down on the buildings and waiting to come back to add another upgrade, or do another attack.
This game structure has made Evony available to play by professionals working full time, as they can play during their breaks, kick off another building or attack. And then go back to evony login during lunch to see how their attack went and make another.
This also helps UMGE get gamers paying money to play the game. Gamers that are frustrated with the long wait times for buildings can buy some Evony Cents to upgrade faster, or train troops faster, or buy the item they've been looking for so they can have more castles undeir their dominion. This is a great design for a MMORPG in this day and age. This has made Evony less of a kids game, and more into the realms of older players and women players too.
Not Free
It seems there are a few people out there that don't like the "Free Forever" part of Evony. Here is another one on weebly.
I still can't get over how much money the Evony game developers are making from the game as the ads are still out there, and in game they are pushing more and more for people to spend money. With incentives that if you spend $30 you get some big bonuses, but who wants to spend $30 on a free game?

The Evony developers are still trying to squeeze as much money out of players before they realise the game Evony does not have any substance.
They're doing this by sending players in-game mails telling what promotions they're putting on now. It sounds like a rug store to me. Ever seen a rug store that wasn't having a sale? I haven't. So they're putting on sales, and tricks to get players to spend their hard earned money on buying in-game items.
Evony are purposefully keeping the items hard to ge, like Michelangelo's Script. The hardest item to get in the game, it might have a random drop rate of 1 in 5,000 attacks. So to actually get enough to fully deck out even just 1 of your castles, would take more time spent in game than I'd care to imagine. So this is a beautiful bait to dangle in front of people in the hope they will open their wallets to buy some Evony cents to buy a Michelangelo's Script. Not me.
iEvony
Theres a new exclusive Evony game called iEvony. iEvony is by invite only. If you need an invite or have one to share go to the iEvony page on the Evony Free Forever site.
This new game inside Evony is invite only and has great ways of getting "free" evony cents. This is by inviting more people to join and other ways. Amazing in game rewards are promised, and as yet the developers at UMGE have not thought up what these rewards are going to be.
The fact that iEvony is a beta means that the Evony developers are going to use iEvony as a test server. It will test the latest patches before going out to the wide Evony community. This also means that there will be a lot of updates coming, both visual updates and arithmetic or fighting numbres updates. So whatever strategy you are using now could change very soon. The people on the iEvony servers will be the first to know about the upcoming changes, and will get an edge on the rest of the Evony community.

The pricing structure is a serious concern. As end game approaches, just taking the resources of a single city from level 9 to level 10 would cost you $370. And if you look at the "Buy Game Coins" drop-down, you can spend up to $3,000 in one hit. A few drinks too many, or a moment of madness with Mum's PayPal account could end up with a lot of tears. I see some big problems for UMGE in the future because of this rather unethical policy - but by then, will they have taken the money and run?
When it is "breaking down" most of the time it is just either:
1. That they are checking it
2. They are probably having difficultys supplying things for all 3million people who play the game
And yeah they advertise way to much.... but that doesn't matter it is fun!!!
I forgot to mention the ups and downs of Evony:
A, We can only build one thing at a time meaning we just surf the web for things to do
B, it's just addicting
The Evony Lag comes down simply to the UMGE developers not expecting this many players. Thats why they went from 3 servers when they switched from Civony to Evony and now theres 33 of them or something. They must be making some serious money to be spending so much on servers.
I am in the game and can't even start as the burnt orange page at the beginning just sits there with nothing at all on it. As well I have tried to find a log in page and it won't come up.

I've seen LOTS of people saying iEvony was a game, or server. IT IS NOT. DOWNLOAD THE iEVONY CLIENT TO SEE FOR YOURSELF. It is ONLY to get credits by inviting people to join, and to be able to use iEvony you must get an activation code from someone who has already activated (they recieve 10, and each time a code is used it is replaced by a newly generated code.) Also I do agree. Using money on this game is a complete waste. They charge WAY to much for everything, and if I was in control of the prices, I would slash all the prices in half, and cut construction times in half. The game also has special packages, the only downside it you need to spend money to get them. I've also been wondering, how do you get the Cents Package?
I've been playing for two days and am addicted but I'm about to quit because the more you play the more time it takes to build stuff. I'm bored out of my mind waiting for things to build. Also, this paying real life dollars to buy video game cents is the most ridiculous concept I've ever heard of.
I love playing the game but the header always says anyone cheating will be banned from the game. The people who spend money have an unfair advantage and so the "Free Forever" part is bullsh!t and the paying people are cheating. Also the time spent waiting is crap! The people spending money should be booted because they ae CHEATERS!
I can play the game, but when I click on "Contact Us" or "Buy game Coins", nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Well I think Evony is an interesting experiment in games that seems to be making allot of money.
More and more we are seeing 'free' games been made with optional 'paid' add ons.
Some better games like this are 'Battle Field Heroes'(EA) and 'Quake Online'(iD (.. I think anyway))
Interesting development, but I think Evony might be over the line in terms of ethical standards in terms of payment options.
The game started fun and adicting, but the time spent waiting for it to proceed because I'm unwilling to shell out cash is a huge turn-off. The fundamental problem with real-time games is that something could happen! While I'm sleeping! While I'm working! and while this might seem an incentive to buy the game cents, the truth is that I'm geared to a $60 or so package that gets me a very consistent 60+ hours of enjoyment with no frunstration or delays. Heck, my brother bought me Team Fortress 2 for $60 and I'm still having loads of fun playing it a year later. The cost of playing evony with the same level of satisfaction and enjoyment for the same amount of time would be thousands of dollars. No thanks. It's not that addicting.
Evony is not free. It's a lie. The treat is in the famouses Michelangelo's script. You can't build anything over level 9 whitout this. It's not fair.
the free wheel spin gives you a chance at a miche script, i enjoy it, and guys when will you reaise this game isnt about how much time you play but how often you play, like single house wifes, do the dishes then build ur house, then hoover then upgrade ur farm, then iron, then upgrade ur barracs.... do you not see this? your not suppose to sit there watching the seconds go by.

why isn't it possible for me to log in ? i played evony for a few weeks now and today i can't log in anymore. Everytime i try to log in i get the evony map and the possibility to create another account! But i don't want to have another account ! And i still has 150 cent on my account. this game is pretty fun but i think runescape is alot better because you actually get to be a player and walk around and meet new people. Also there is alot of quests and stuff and its alot more funner cause you can kill giant mice and cows and people lol. =]

well I like it its just so like I don't know, crazy? Like during the day your just minding your own buisness and then it hits you OH NO I HAVE TO UPGRADE MY BUILDINGS or I HAVE TO RESEARCH IRON WORKING 8.
I've been in Evony since June. I see the complaints that it takes time for buildings to be built and battles to evolve. If you only have 1 city, that's true.
But I have 8 cities now, all at Level 10, and will probably be able to acquire a 9th and 10th within the next few days- by taking over Level 10 NPC's. When I get them, I'll have to reconfigure the cottages into barracks and, once again, develop defenses against attack and an offense against those who would attack them.
I'm busy all the time building my armies and keeping them fed, raiding NPC's, developing strategy against an enemy and then implementing those strategies, and chatting in the Alliance chat room.
It doesn't matter that it can take two weeks to upgrade one level of academics; the fact is, you don't have to wait for that to be done. It will be done whether you wait or not, and the rest of the game will have passed you by.
To pay for a free game! LOL what RETARDS
I didn't spend any money on Evony till now but it took so much time from me.
But don't you have to pay for cents after awhile? After all, you have to have Michaelangelo scripts to upgrade your fields and buildings to lvl 10. And if you actually want to play the game you gotta train troops, and thus you have to feed them. Once you've got all your farms to lvl 9, and if you've already used the Michalangelo script they give you then how can you feed your troops? Or continue growing your population in your cities?? Yes, you can conquer valleys, but after awhile your gonna have too many troops and your valleys won't be able to support your troops. So, my point is you HAVE to buy at least a few cents (50 for each michaelangelo script). So EVONY IS NOT FREE.
For the people having trouble logging in, i had the same problem, what i did was once i got to that burnt orange page, i clicked the backpage button twice and it took me right to it. kind of lame but it works

there are those of us like myself with around a mill in prestige that have not spent a dime but but still get the shaft. then testers come in and walk all over us. evony has to be one of the most scandlist companys today. i love the game and will continue to play however those who do spend moeny are making this game worse.

UMGE did not make this game for the sake of people enjoying a game, they made it because they are in the business of making money like the MILLIONS of other businesses out there in the world. in my opininon i think it is an ok game it help me pass time im at 954k prerstidge and goin up i have started farming lvl 10s and have all the buidings in my city lvl 9 with like 6 of them lvl 10 all i can do now is research but its fun when ur bord and have nuthin bettrer to do i have not spent a single dollar on evony and dont plan on it, cost to much and the good thing is alliances are good but like said in other comments build time is out ragour for my medical to get lvl 10 i have to wait 236 hrs and 54 mins its been a couple days so not much left now but its great for people with no life like mysefl who have nuthin better to do then sit and stare at a computer screen and watch jerry springer all day lol
The new pricing structure will make a lot more money than the old. I have played this game for over a year and spent around $500. I've constructed a simple guide to gameplay. http://forevony.com. Perhaps Evony LLC will be giving out more goodies in the near future, but I'm not holding my breath.
Evony - great game - but you always need Evony cents to do it. However they give you an amulet (five cents) every day you log on.

people, i have played this game last year for couple months spending 40 to 50 pounds. After i have reached almost maximum i left it. No regret. Now i am playing the new version and not going to pay any coin for it, just to have a fun.
Any way, my point of view is that everything in our life you can buy is really worthy for nothing. evony, drink in a bar, cars, houses... i would prefer to be independent from this civilization at all. sorry for my english:-)
i like this game except for the fact that you can only build or upgrade 1 building at a time. In real life you would be able to build more than 1. I have 11,000 people in my vilage, and 7,000 of those are idle, so u should be able to build more than one.
I kept starting a new game, and spending my amulets/game cents until i got like 100 cents or so. If i got nothing, i would start over (no saving). Eventually, i got 1000cents on the wheel, and then saved my game. I've spent those and don't have much to show---now the game is boring pretty much.

As in age 1, it is harder to feed troops, but, in age 2, if you colonize cities they pay you resources in tribute. If you colonize enough cities, you can get another 200k food productioon every month. i get a 300k extra food production thanks to colonized cities.

hi my name is Liam from the sunshine coast of powell i have a beef with evony i have stuff that people have sent me rgat i can`nt use on the game and i have been play the game severs for long time and i think people shoul be alowed to purchuse stuff from the store with haveing to give out the credit card info at so hi of prices it should be free all around for all user because not alot people use cards because there not ready or some parent let there kid use them because they live on there own or they have job or there sons and doters of millares besides paying the rent and staying heathy and get more exercise or walking the animals or hanging the kids and infants of the house. anyway i play on xbox live and i have been playing video games since i was two years old and i was old enuff to pick up a controler and wim my furst game or play my furst sport in school or meet my furst girl the proper way. and evony is just one of many sites that is crupt and ask people to give there money to cheat the system just like the hst tax the gst and the pst taxs at best buy futhure shop and store and black market around the hole world and i put a idea into the site i guess the people at the evony did not like it because they would loose there scam just like facebook and those many differnt porn sites and site that ask you subscibe or you dont get anything who ever thought prices so high so the avige user can`not get full acess because the site want money from any sucker with or without credit card. and why for game like evony-freeforever can`nt they make the game normal and share and trade stuff in the game and stop live the americain dream and make this game free and stop charge people money on there cards and on pay pal and make anounment on live tv. beacause beleave the people that colect the money have no spine and just like facebook they are ripping of the genral pubulick that use all the severs for evony-freeforever.
First of all you're fuken stupid, HERES HOW TO MAKE YOUR CITY LVL 10 WITHOUT SPENDING A PENNY! first make a main account, then make 10 other alt accounts , make your city all lvl 9 then have an alt account take that city and use the 1 mike script you get when you sign up, use it make a building lvl ten, repeat this process with the other 9 alt accounts, you can make 11 building lvl 10 in a few days, no problem. NOW there are ALOT of ways to keep going with this , i made 25 alt accounts and used 25 mike scripts between 4 cities and i became godly in a matter of weeks. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO DO THIS, make a fake email on yahoo or a temp e-mail whatever you choose. then once all alt accounts have been used reset them all and do it again!. this is how TOP ranked players never spend money. SO how is it stupid people keep buying coins!

The 3 HC's are nearly a complete square, one more to go. I have 2 lvl 14's claimed and a good claim on the 16.
Mainly Iron and Lumber but some cities are still to be leveled. Most of them have valleys attached.
The insides of all cities are mainly complete. Lvl 10 to all the important buildings, and 1 city is completely lvl 10 barracks.
I have some good colonies attached to the cities so they all produce well. Over 500k lum iron in some cities.
Heaps of items in the account... most of the strategems are at least over 20 of each item. Ivory Horns, Holy Water, Random Ports, Pen, Corslets, Ensigns, Hero Huntings, Speakers..etc..etc... none of those things you will need to worry about in a long time lol. Hero equipment is fully leveled to 10 and half are at lvl 10 stars, the other half lvl 9 stars. The heroes are getting a great bonus! Which brings me to the heroes....
90 heroes. 22 of them are Historic Heroes. Good ones. Won't list them all here, but I have some of the best on the server. One of them is 2nd best hero in the whole game for base stats and leadership. The best ones have around 400-440 attack right now. There are 10 Politics Historic Heroes and the other 12 are all attack. Most of my normal heroes are getting up to lvl 70-90 and have attacks around the 300 mark.
There is about 1mill arcs in the account. 9million warriors plus a lot of other troops. Farming teams for each city. I can also give you the coords to the 5's I hit. There are enough 10's to go around too.
All the medal and troop quests are done... pretty much all the other quests are done too. Techs are fully maxed.
In the number 2 ranked alliance on the server. and my personal rank is in the top 200.
I have all the res buffs...etc... also a lot of the achievements have been done so I have some excellent buffs there too.

I think every1 here complaining about evony charging u for cents are retards if u dont like spending money dont spend it... u can play with out spending money u just have to know how to play!!! when u first start playing conentrate your efforts on upgrading cottages and resources fields the faster u get ur resource coming in the the more u can build and train troops second try and get ur construction research up as fast as possible so ur buildings dont take forever and a day to upgrade... then work on your heroes the higher your heroes are the faster u train and build heroes depending on what heroe u have set as mayor... theres all types of strategies u can use to build fast just do ur resaerch b4 complaining so much... and yes items are expensisve but so what no1's putting a gun to ur head telling u to spend money... u dont need items to play u just have to know how to pay.....
ive spent about $90 on evony but i only spend so i can go into holiday mode at vacation time, with a food bill in excess of 20mill per hour you need to be able to pause it when you cant play. and i wont give login details to anyone
I play evony age 1. I dont put up with the crap that is age 2. Currently, I am on s144, with 500k prestige and 3 cities. I just quit off of ss27, where I was approaching 3million prestige. Just to let you know, I have never spent a cent on this game, and the secret to getting mich scripts is to hit lots of lvl 10 npc's.

I don't spend money on evony anymore, as you sure do not get anything for what you spend. It's pretty much a game that takes up a lot of time to play. There are also bigger cities that attack you before you go anywhere. It is a pretty useless game.
